BOTOX® Cosmetic
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a simple, non-surgical treatment that can smooth wrinkles within a few days. One ten-minute treatment – a few tiny injections – and there’s a dramatically noticeable improvement in moderate to severe frown lines between the brows, on the forehead, and around the corners of the eyes – wrinkles that develop over time as we age. The result – a face that looks younger and more tranquil – is temporary but can last up to four months.
Bair Medical Spa clinicians have training in other advanced BOTOX® Cosmetic injection techniques such as liquid brow lifts, treatments for lines across the nose, “crow’s feet”, lip lines, drooping lip corners, chin lines, and neck bands. Dr. Bair also has training in advanced BOTOX® Cosmetic injection techniques for primary care applications such as headaches, migraines, and hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating).
Bair Medical Spa clinicians use BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport® in combination with dermal fillers to give the face a “liquid lift” for a smoother, more youthful and rested appearance that can take years off the face. Allergan, the makers of BOTOX® Cosmetic, have recognized Dr. Bair’s skills as a physician and named him a Diamond Provider of BOTOX® Cosmetic. Jeuveau®
Thanks to science, there's help for lines between the brows. Glabellar lines, or lines between the brows, can be caused by repeated muscle contractions from frowning or squinting. Jeuveau® is a new FDA-approved injectable treatment that temporarily improves the look of frown lines. Dysport®
What is Dysport®?
Prescription Dysport® is an injection used to temporarily improve the look of your moderate to severe frown lines without changing the look of your whole face. The untreated facial muscles still work normally, allowing you to freely show facial expressions, such as smiling, in untreated areas.
Dysport® is a formulation that has been shown to deliver temporary improvement in moderate to severe frown lines, even with repeat treatments. So, the effect of repeat treatment with Dysport® may be comparable to your first use.
How does Dysport® work?
With just 1 injection into each of 5 points between and over the eyebrows, Dysport® blocks the signal from the nerve to the muscles, ultimately resulting in a reduction of muscle activity and temporarily preventing contraction of the muscles that cause frown lines. You should not be treated with Dysport® more frequently than every 90 days.
What causes frown lines?
Over time, repeated movement of the facial skin by the forehead muscles forms lines between the eyebrows. Frown lines are “dynamic” – they happen because of the way a person’s face moves.
Are they always related to age?
No. Because frown lines are created by facial movements, such as frowning or squinting, they may develop even in younger adults.
What can you do about them?
Treatment with prescription Dysport® can temporarily improve the look of your moderate to severe frown lines. Treatment generally takes just 10 to 20 minutes.
Clinically proven results with 1 treatment
In 3 clinical studies of people whose frown lines were rated “moderate” or “severe” by a doctor before their treatment with Dysport®:
- 30 days after treatment, the majority (88%, 85%, and 86% in each of the 3 studies) had their frown lines rated by a doctor as “mild” or “moderate” at maximum frown. For example, a patient could improve from “severe” to “moderate” or from “moderate” to “mild”.
- 30 days after treatment, the majority (74%, 79%, and 82% in each of the 3 studies) rated their own frown lines as “mild” or “moderate” at maximum frown. For example, a patient could improve from “severe” to “moderate” or from “moderate” to “mild”.

BOTOX® Cosmetic, Jeuveau®, or Dysport® – how do I know which one is right for me?
Since all three medications have the same active molecule, clinical studies have shown that they are all effective for treating dynamic wrinkles from facial expression; however, all three medications have unique characteristics that in some instances may indicate preference in treatment. In fact, use of one, two, or all three medications may be indicated for different areas of the face during a single treatment. A Bair Medical Spa clinician will discuss your goals and the unique characteristics of your face with you to determine the most appropriate course of treatment.
